Maria Pau is currently doing her Doctorate measuring the effect of coaching in subjects with substance use issues using the mind-body-spirit framework she coined ‘Collaborative Peer Recovery Coaching’.
She has completed Master of Public Health in the field of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs at UQ's Qld Alcohol & Drug Research Education Centre (QADREC). UQ is currently part of the G8 University in Australia and ranked 49 in the world today.
She is the Director of multi-award winning charity called Coaching With Substance and is an accredited coach with the International Coaching Federation and Recovery Coaches Intl.
As a peer, she had a 23 year battle with poly-drug use and history of many psychiatric institutionalisations in four countries.
This makes her stand out as someone who is open, accepting and forgiving of her traumatic past and now helps those still associating shame with their addiction and past addictive behaviours.
She is a four-time No. 1 best-selling author on amazon, with a following of 10,000 Twitter followers, 12,900 Facebook friends/fans and over 280,000 views on her YouTube channel.
She also blogs about addiction and has written over 150 articles and academic texts regarding wellness and recovery from addiction.
